I recently graduated from Grade 8 at my school in Toronto. During the ceremony, I kept looking at the program, wondering who would receive the subject awards. When they called my name for the math award, and I walked on stage, I felt really proud and excited to start high school and keep learning.
Over this year, math started to feel like its own kind of language for me. I like how there are clear rules and how a hard, multi-step problem can suddenly yield a single clear answer. For me, it was not just about getting a high mark, but about the fun of figuring things out.
Winning the Grade 8 math award made me feel more confident to try harder subjects and hobbies that require a lot of focus and precision.
